2011 Calendar Preview & Arts Exhibition

Our Opening Night celebration certainly set the tone for what fast became a very exciting and very successful event! Several hundred people (and some of their pets!) took in the wonderful artworks on display and participated in the Silent Auction and raffles, all the while enjoying beautiful live music provided by a harpist from The Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. Delicious complimentary refreshments were graciously provided by the Derby Street Shoppes.
A highlight among the many free events that took place during the course of the exhibition was a visit by live wild animals courtesy of the New England Wildlife Center in South Weymouth. Project Director Steve Martin wowed young and old alike with his energetic and informative presentations. Curious, an African Spur Thigh Tortoise, was seen here making her grand entrance!
The NEAFA 2011 Calendar Preview showcased the semi-finalists’ work which will adorn next years’ calendar. From this body of work, our jurors will choose 14 pieces; one for each month, one for January of the following year, and lastly, the prestigious cover.
The NEAFA Arts Exhibition was an invitation-only show for NEAFA artist members, as well as a wonderful retrospective of some of their best work from previous shows.
The public had the opportunity to vote on their favorites during the course of the show, and everyone who visited enthusiastically did so! Their votes, along with those of the jurors, will determine the final content of the NEAFA 2011 Calendar. The winners will be announced the first full week of April 2010 - so stay tuned!
